Earn U.S. University Credits Online — No Visa Required!

Exciting news for international high school students! If you're studying online from your home country, you do not need a U.S. student visa (such as an F-1 or J-1) to take university-level courses from American institutions. That’s because:

You're not entering the U.S. or participating in any activities that require a visa.

Online learning from abroad doesn’t involve Form I-20 or SEVIS registration.

Visa regulations like SEVP only apply to students physically studying in the United States.

Even better, we’re partnering with six U.S. universities that offer concurrent enrollment for online high school students. You’ll soon be able to take real university courses and apply those credits toward both your high school diploma and future college degree.

No SEVIS Involvement

Since the students are abroad and not entering the U.S., they do not need to register with the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) or pay the SEVIS I-901 fee ($350 for F-1 students).

Future U.S. Study

If the students plan to later study in the U.S. (e.g., for college), earning credits through online concurrent enrollment could strengthen their academic profile. In that case, they would need an F-1 visa and a Form I-20 from an SEVP-certified institution at that time.

Program Eligibility

Some U.S. universities offer specific concurrent enrollment programs for high school students (e.g., dual enrollment or early college programs). Ensure the program is open to international high school students and that online participation is fully supported.
